Why a blog of hand-made maps?

Maps have always been crucial in the world for both navigational and political reasons. Innumerable maps have been sketched all throughout the world where one can see how fascinating stories emerge from them. Medieval maps sketched by European cartographers were heavily influenced by Biblical interpretations and even had natural elements such as flora, fauna, mythological figures etc. There were certain maps sketched by African and Asian cartographers that were very different from the Europeans versions, charting out territories and kingdoms necessary for military conquests. Earlier the most-used language were Latin, German, Italian and French while the English maps emerged majorly only after the 18th century. And every map has its own flaws and loopholes that were mostly because of less technological advancements of that time.

Amazing facts we see through these old maps. From spotting an Amsterdam near Bangkok, to knowing that California was assumed as an island once; calling the entire Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia as 'India' to Ætheopian Sea for water bodies surrounding African lands, old maps are a plethora of amazing information. Taking help of such maps, this blog is simply a recreation of the same, but in a more simplified manner. Since most of the Latin names are now archaic, the blog also will share its current names. Since the creator is Indian, a little inclination towards more Indian maps may be observed, but the blog has 'labels' of all the continents, hence one can find maps from all the regions here.

Hoping for a good traction of audience here. :)
